Top Ten Tuesday (1): New To Me Authors In 2014!

http://www.brokeandbookish.com/

This list is kind of embarrassing.

Top Ten authors that were new to me in 2014:

1.  Leigh Bardugo: I started The Grisha Trilogy in August and just finished it last month.  I really liked it but it, unfortunately, wasn't my favorite.

2.  John Green:  Surprising, I know.  But when the trailer came out for The Fault in Our Stars, I fell in love with it and knew that I had to bite the bullet and finally read it.  And then in November I ended up reading Paper Towns and loved that as well.

3.  Marissa Meyer:  I read Cinder in August right around the same time I started The Grisha Trilogy.  I have yet to read the rest of the series because I really want to wait for Winter to come out so I can marathon the whole series.

4.  Libba Bray:  In October, I was looking for some spooky reads and I heard that The Diviners was pretty creepy.  I gave it a try and was not disappointed.

5.  T.S. Mercaldi:  I received Dylan Graves and the Yojin Village for review from the author and absolutely fell in love with it.  Check out more of my thoughts here!

6.  Diana Gabaldon:  I started watching Outlander on Starz before I read the first book, but after the first two episodes I knew that I needed to read the books.  I have now read the first two books, Outlander and Dragonfly in Autumn.  I love them so much!  Voyager is patiently waiting on my bookshelf for me to finish the book I'm currently reading.

7.  Stephen King:  This is really surprising to me.  I have not read a Stephen King book.  But, in October, I finally read The Shining.  And I hate to say it, but I was kind of disappointed.  It definitely was scary but I guess my expectations were way too high.  So, my fault really.

8.  Sarah J. Maas:  I finally read Throne of Glass!  I loved that so much that I picked up The Assassin's Blade.  I have yet to pick up Crown of Midnight or Heir of Fire.  I definitely will though.  It's just, TBR piles, you know?

9.  Jennifer E. Smith:  I bought The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight quite awhile ago on my Nook app thingy for my iPad and I just finished it a couple months ago.  It was definitely a cute book but nothing ground breaking.  Maybe, in the future I'll pick up more of her books.

10.  Patrick Ness:  I read A Monster Calls during Booktube-a-thon way back when.  I really enjoyed it and definitely shed a tear or two.  I think I'm going to have to read more books by him.  Any suggestions?

Do any of you share these same answers?

If you would like to purchase any of these books, please think about using my Book Depository affiliate link.  I'm currently unemployed and truly appreciate anything I can get.

  1. Nice list! I'm in love with so many of these books/authors. Patrick Ness is fabulous, although truthfully, I didn't love A MONSTER CALLS. I do love his Chaos Walking series. It's unique and compelling and clever and awesome. You HAVE to read it if you love Ness.

    Happy TTT (on Wednesday)!

    1. I've actually been thinking about getting that series for awhile now. I guess I should bump that up on my 'to buy' list!
